what should i use as dithers? you think tiger barbs would be good? my lil guys only about 4 inches and silver dollars are pretty expensive here

yeah, convicts can be nasty though... maybe rainbows, firemouths or keyholes... tiger barbs have a nasty set of teeth believe it or not they can be evil lol, that would be embarresing if they killed ur dovii haha.. i had a three inch tiger barb that used to nip at all my cichlids until my arowana had enough and swallowed him!

heres a vid with my little dude and friends... he has been beating on the young cintrinellus after he was picked on by him... thinking i might remove him.

lol ya seriously well there are 6 of them now, and 3 tinfoil barbs i jsut added so well see how that goes, is your dovii a female by any chance

hey, sure they'll be fine... people have been telling me male but im no expert myself, either way im happy.

i reckon most fish get on if theyre together from a young age... exept piranha, they are evil lol...

that's a beautiful dovii..

and convicts can be nasty, but their damage is limited. any CA\SA setup is complete with a family of them staking out claim to a corner of the aquarium. salvinis would work, too.

cheers pc... trouble is they breed to easily lol, you end up with a big 3 or 5 generation incestial sex party with inbred babys haha...

well ive been planning a plywood build for a while now, i have been sourcing some parts and prices but im moving house soon so cant really start it yet, trust me it will happen though... it is clean and all the parameters are good at the moment. im running an fx5 and a big powerhead, i also do a big waterchange weekly. ive had most of them for a while and have always planned on reducing the stock down to my favourites as i go, which i have been doing, im getting better slowely at not buying a fish everytime i go to a store lol. im not a every fish i buy for life person and my good lfs give me good credit on any un wanted fish. i know dovii are documented as getting huge in the wild but very few captive dovii get much larger than a big oscar, what do oscars top out at 15, 18 inch! takes a long time to grow so i figure i have plenty of time, i like a busy tank and if either the dovii, rd, or butti start getting mean i have spare cash for a temperary tank and a big solid stone 3 inch thick slated divider which i made, if something more immediate is needed... i have kept fish for 15 years, the conditions are good and the all get on with each other at the moment so im happy with that, i would never keep them all in there when they were fully grown, and its far from overcrowded atm in my opinion. please i dont want get into a debate as to whether i know what im doing or am a good or bad fish keeper.
