wow, thank you for the info... but wait, what' an air stone? i want whatever it takes to insure my tank is perfect. i do have that strainer attachment though, just doesn't wanna stay on.

yea, the small gravel is white, i guess i can just replace it

i take that back. is an air stone, just one of those little pods that sit on top of the gravel, blowing bubbles? if so, i was definitely going to get one of those just for the look and oxygen benefits.

bro u did good. i got a 405 for $40 and u got a 404 and then some for $50 not bad at all. post pics once its all set up

thanks man! will do, and i can not wait to get it all set up and running...

but it was $50...
Dont let them bring ya down. The 404 is a great filter for a 56 gallon especially with a UGF :headbang2I run a 404 (with other filters) on my 90 and its a water cannon and IMO does a damn good job and pumps a ton of water.

yeaaaa, but i'm not sure if people will be happy with what i come up with. i gonna raise piranha, but i don't think i'm gonna go with a traditional piranha set up. i'll figure it out though, not sure how i wanna start. whats the best thing to use for cover, as far as decor goes?

not a bad haul for $50

as stated the canister is not top of the line or anything.. but they work well so good deal.. toss the crushed coral thats in it and pack it will filterfloss (cheap) or some ceramic rings (money)

the powerhead is great... hook that up to one side of the under gravel and stick an airstone on the other side (the bubbles displace the water and pull water through it just like a powerhead would only on a lesser level).. under gravel filters are not the best thing going (cleaning them is a real pain) but they work just fine..

heaters are great.. put it in a pitcher of water to find the right settings.. its easyer to heat a pitcher of water than it is to heat a whole tank

as for the ammo chips.. if you do it right.. you will never need them..

as for the piranha... you are going to need a bigger tank at some point..

thanks, and yea i've found out that i'll need a bigger one. it'll be a pain, but it'll still give me some time to save up the money for one. about putting the air stone on the other side... is an air stone just one of those little discs that blow bubbles? put it under the under gravel or what?

yep just one of those lil disks/balls/pegs that blow bubbles when you hook an airline and an airpump to them... just drop it down the tube
