well i have the under gravel, with the tube in one corner, and a powerhead to connect to that tube... where and what should i do with an airstone...?

You get one of the long skinny airstones (Usually white) and push it to the bottom of that tube. The air pump outside the tank pushes the air in to the airstone in that tube and the air lifts the water up the tube pulling the water through the gravel.

Toss out everything but the declor and 404. You don't need a undergravel. And the powerhead is semi usless unless it's got a air line to it so you can save money by not needing a air pump.

Are you sure it all works? I guess if the 404 works it's not a bad deal but some of the stuff is usless. but your new and it should be good if that filter works.

what part of ohio are you from?

yea i think i decided just to not worry about the under gravel.

i'm from central ohio, east side... you?

Hello, fellow Ohioans! xD

I think you got a good deal for $50. IMO and IME, don't use the UGF(under gravel filter). Useless, old technology. All they do is pull the crap down under it, while it sits there loading your tank with nitrates. Just run the 404, great filter from what I've heard, never ran a canister myself though.

Man I love UG filters. If anything just for clarity. Your water will be amazingly clear with it. I remember back 15-20 years ago UG was the goods. Now people like wet/dry and canisters. It seems like filteration moves in cycles of what people like. If you have the UG use it. You will be supprised.
