How about doing something fantastically odd like looking up Bowfin biology and Natural history.. You would be shocked with what you will find....

Might find out some really cool things Like their spawning season and reproductive biology that just might tell you something about where to find them and when.

I know crazy idea since you already know and are just asking to ask it.

I know where to find lots of bowfin but not babys.. yet. Even by knownig breeding season, how and where they spawn, how they baby the young it can still be hard to find them.

ive seen someone fish out an adult, so i know adults are there

its the babies im after

I usually see juvies in March-April up here in TN; you'll probably see them earlier down there. Look for shallow swampy areas with lots of weeds. You'll see big boiling clouds of little black fishies (if you've ever seen juvenile bullhead swarms, it's just like that); if you look closely, you'll see daddy nearby or in the middle of the juveniles.

The little guys kinda look like tiny Dunkleosteus to me:

If you want to raise them, be prepared to provide large quantities of small live prey.
