ray and caiman lizards

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Whenever you mix animals there is the potential for some type of problem, but this one works well. The caiman lizard's favorite food is snails. They never bother the fish. I suppose there is always the potential that a ray could spine a tankmate, including a lizard, but their skin is fairly tough. Often times I've seen turtles/lizards basically walking across a stingray and the ray usually just sits there- don't seem to mind.

Agreed on the tank size and very good filtration being a necessity.

These are 2 of my favorite types of animals!

The compatability possibilities in public aquaria are a thousand fold of that of domestic aquaria.

Tank space is key.

How about adding an aro? This is for the sake of ray compatability. The caiman lizard didn't worry much. They dont have a massive poison-filled spike to kill anyone if they so desire... T-T

This is starting to sound possible! hahaha

Would a leopoldi work?

I cant edit posts so...

Do leopoldis breed in captivity? Is so, would they in this setup? Any other Amazon monsters that could work? Arowanas, catfish? (not redtails. shovelnose?) What about turtles like matamatas or twistnecks?

Haha I'm getting too curious! :naughty:

Caiman lizards get 2 1/2 to 4 feet. Why, looking to get one? I know of one (very nice) specimen for sale for about $2000.

Not to go off topic, but are the any South American gars that could work in the setup? How big? Thanks, thats if I actually get a reply this time... :]
