I have a RTC that is 8", I really want to put a ray in my new tank in the summer but i don't know a lot about rays.

First of all, is this a good idea considering the RTC gets huge quickly?

Secondly, if it is possible what kind of ray should i get?

Btw... The tank i'm building is 10'x6'x3.5'

8" rtc + ray should be fine could you be a bit more specific like what specie of ray your thinking of ect :nilly:

That's the thing i really don't know much about rays. That's why i asked. I don't know which ones would be the best fit with the RTC

As long as you have a ton of bio filtration because both of them are huge bio loads and you keep an eye on the size difference you should be fine.

I would also make sure the ray is getting enough food since RTCs are pigs

I would go motoro small investment and they grow fast and get big

Thanks for the info! How big does the motoro get? Would it be ok in the tank I'm building?

Yes that would be a nice tank for a pair of motoro

Males will get in the range of 15 inch disk or more and females can get much larger 24 inch disk or more

If you keep the water changes up and feed them a lot they will grow very fast

Also highly recommend you read through the stickies in the ray section.

Awesome! Making my dream set up haha. :headbang2

What kind of tank set up would I need? Sand/Gravel? Driftwood? Rocks?

itll be fine since rays tend to hug the bottom. but in the wild RTCs live along side freshwater rays so its not like its an uncommon thing

True. Do you need sand on the bottom for the rays?
