OH...IO
My ray is giving birth tonight as I type this. One pup is out and seems fine but the next one appears to be having trouble. It's tail is out but has been like that for at least one hour perhaps longer. Does anyone know if it's normal for rays to be born tail first? I'd like to be able to help but I'm afraid I would stress mom too much so I'm letting them be. I'm concerned about the pup being stillborn as well as concerned about the moms health. Any advice from ray breeders out there?

I have no idea, saw a video that Laz posted a long time ago where a breeding facility had a ray giving birth and they held her tail up in the air while the pups came out. I would assume that they can come out tail or head first. Is it out yet?

Not yet. The first pup was small, disc maybe 3-3.25" or so. I think the next may be a good amount larger. Fingers crossed.

Awesome you get to see it, all 3 births of the jags happened when I was not home. Hope it turns out okay and can't wait for pics

I found a couple videos of rays giving birth and tail first seems normal but the pups of the vids seem to come out relatively fast. Hope all is well....

The second pup is still stuck this morning and appears its no longer alive. I'm going to attempt to remove mom from the tank and extract the pup. Wish me luck.
