so i picked up my motoro on saturday , the guy i bought it from was feeding it live blackworms and bloodworms he also fed it a feeder right in front of me !@!

my question is this how do i get the ray to eat prawns , shrimp and bigger worms ?? what tips do you other rays keepers have ?

also if i try to feed prawns/shrmp , how long do i leave the uneaten food in tank , if it does not eat it ??

thanks

stick with blood and blackworms for now, until your ray is healthy and fat. Most convenient way to break new foods to rays is by starving them. healthy ray can eat for a long time. Just to give you an idea of how long, Ive been starving mine for over 6 weeks to get her on pellets. Take out prawns or shrimps within 20 minutes and id advise you to defrost them before feeding.

cool thanks , do i have to remove any uneaten blackworms ?? as well ?
the ray is eating them , just not all at once ?

uhh. You can always leave a bit in there so your ray can go scavenge when its hungry, but when you leave too much in there, they turn into mosquitos.

are you serious ?? :grinno:.. thats gross man !@!

my guy sure likes his feeders tho , just hunts em down!! but like i said i wanna get it on to other foods eventually ..

i would put it on red wigglers and night crawlers for a little bit to fatten it up... then from there you can move onto shrimps etc....

shame that tips for breaking rays to new foods thread is not a sticky...
