I'M NO DISTRIBUTOR BUT I'M A FANATIC AND I HAVE BEEN FOR 6-7 YEARS NOW, I'VE DONE NOTHING BUT READ AND LOOK AT PICTURES AND WELL OWN MY CURRENT RAYS FOR 5 YEARS! who's right, DR. ROSS OR TFD?

Heat and Salt are the best meds, IMO..
Looks like it could be the start of a fungus, or the rays disc could be 'degenerating'.. Sounds like someone could also be nipping at the claspers or disc.. What other fish do you have in there? No plecos or polypterus, right? No Cichlids, ya?
Also, like he said, double check the ammonia..
Is the ray eating? I have seen discs literally disinigrate from malnutrition..

86 is ok for the temp range - my best breeding group was housed at 84-86F. Make sure that you have enough air going to compensate for the increased temp. It sounds like irritation from an outside source. But that is just a guess. Gald it made it overnight and isn't curling. Not getting worse is better than nothing.

Yes, temp does play a roll. I have been breeding rays for 9 years now. I have tried a few different temps and 85 -86 seems to do the trick. Took me 8 years before my first batch of pups 9 years ago.
