ray help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thank you, i just got the ray tuesday and it appeared to be in good health when i got him, he is lying on the gravel and doesnt move much. His outer edges of the disc are turning white and i noticed a very slight curl upward of his disc. Not alot of curl, just a bit. I am doing the water changes and hoping for the best.

thanks
john

Sorry man, but I think it isn't going to make it...:(

Look, don't let this discourage you, it is not the ray, or your ability to maintain it, it was most likely a shipping problem during the trip, again, I don't believe that this is the shippers fault, who knows what happened during the handling changes in the whole process. Wait untill it gets warm again, unless you are in the South? And try again, small retics are fragile, if you can go for a motoro, hardier when small and can take a lot of abuse.

Hey the fight is not over yet! She may pull though!!! Good luck!:D

Can you get a pic? I'm curious to see what the edges/curl looks like.

Hey just to let you know, I also got a ray in that shipment from TFD. As of now she has yet to eat anything. She pretty much stays in the same place in the tank. I also got 15 het. Rasboras from that shipment. As of now 5 are MIA and most of the others have white on their lower lip. I'm kinda disapointed in TFD to be quite honest with you. I'd rather pay a little more at my TFD and see what I am buying!

Yea, looks pretty bad:(

Did you go out and get some blackworms?

Hello again, I would remove the ray from the tank and euthanize it (freeze it).

When you are ready to try again prep a tank without agressive fish, and sand or barebottom, but not gravel, JMO

I have gotten many fish and rays shipped to me, not all made it, that is a risk you have to be willing to take, if not, you can stick to local available stock. You can always place a special order with a LFS, if you trust them but then you have to deal with higher prices.

Most shippers guarantee live arrival, you got that, what happens afterwards is up to you, again, there could have been so many bad things happening to that box while it was traveling that you cannot blame the shipper, was it properly packed, was it what you ordered, did it get there on time, was it visually unhealthy? All of these are shipper issues, but anyhting else is not. Again JMO.

I have and will again ordered from TFD (by the way, no one said they are the sellers), check my post on their section, they were very good with me.

i would have to say i would order from tfd again, i ordered a silver aro and a tire track eel, which both are healthy and already eating. fish die for many reasons, and i understand that, its just a shame it wasnt a cheaper fish....
