Ray ID?

so you are going to put rays in a 65 gallon tank 36"x16" bad idea ,with retics they are so sensitive and 65 gallons is not big enough.unless you will be doing water changes twice a week 50% each time.

In fact my first ray i ever bought i put in my 36"x16" and killed it.You will be doing water changes twice a week if you plan on feeding this ray shrimp. You can get a ray to survive in that tank but dont put retic in it.They will die very quickly when amonia and nitrite levels go up even just the slightest bit.

unless your aquarium skills are very advanced and you know all about keeping pristine water in that tank which will be next to impossible feeding live or frozen foods

TBH, I think most people around here do alot more than 50% twice a week, maybe you should think about bumping up your wc...Retics are just as hardy as any other ray once they're acclimated, they dont die from the slightest bit of nitrite or ammonia...

It doesnt take very advanced aquarium skills to figure out how to do more water changes...neither to figure out that you should net out uneaten food before it spoils...

its a retic

gshock the water stays good for over a week why change it.i used to do a small water change everyday but thats a waste of time.doing a big water change more than twice a week will be very expensive with buying prime or aquaplus.plus the water bill and gas bill.I cant even fill my tank all the way after 50% change because the hot water tank cannot keep up.I test my water every day and it stays good.i like the idea of keeping very pristine water but its alot of money.I might get a RO unit do you know anything about them and where to find them cheap

Im still doing 50% a day with normal tanks and 50% twice a day for my q tank. Not a waste of time, how long the water stays good depends on many different factors, either way, the same concept goes, the more you change it, the cleaner it is, once that tap water hits the other 50% of your tank water, its already dirty. I buy prime in 1 gallon jugs, its like $75 if u can find a good local supplier and lasts me about a year. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Good thing I dont pay seperate hydro fees LOL, it all gets included in my utilities fee no matter how much I use its always the same price. No clue on the RO unit though, Im sticking with K.I.S.S., with the money I save on the RO unit, I'd get myself another ray.
