What's your point?

I think you're missing a key point that the statement you made and the paper you cited have nothing to do with each other. The paper is about the rays adaption to ion-poor blackwater, not their "affinity for salt" or whether or not it "bothers them". I say we skip the rest of this thread and go straight to bomzanza.

100% exactly !!!

During the bore, the salt water rushes back into the amazon, so I believe stingrays have can survive it.

and my understanding is that this is when the rays found in the area of Marajo ( the big island in the mouth of the Amazon) migrate upstream, not a true migration but a move away from too much salt ( or at least conditions that they are not so comfortable in) .

Is renal gland activity the same between botia and potamotrygon? Get back to me ;)

As it pertains to the influx and efflux of salts? Yes.

I wish I was exempt from infractions and rules like you..

that must be the rule about not contradicting any nonsense that you say?.
Didn't your signature say something about "get over yourself"? will you apply it to yourself?
© means copyright. Got any?
LOL

This is not the first time you have found a paper online and then posted it with a total misunderstanding of what the paper was actually about. You did the same with a paper about mitochondrial DNA testing. Did you even read it? 32 pages when printed, more likely you just skimmed to the end 'discussion'.
Shame, because it is a very interesting and informative paper, even if a tedious read.

EDIT

Miles - If you think certain people are expemt from infractions here you are once again incorrect. I have edited many of the posts on this thread, not just yours in an attempt to have a civil adult discussion. Its very telling that after I did edit several peoples posts that they all sent me a PM in an adult fashion and we talk about it rather than them ranting. Raykeepers have lots of passion for this hobby and things can get heated at times, hence they usually understand if I do edit their posts. I am not a heavy handed infracting MOD hence a simple edit rather than an infraction is more my style. Again, nobody is exmpt from an infraction.

DONE!
