Rays in a large comunity.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's all about knowing your fish & the community... Things change & you need to be aware if you are mixing other fish with rays. There is no big secret basically if the ray is small it may get picked on 7 if the ray is bog it will most like pick on anything it can.. I constantly have rays ride my 3.5 ft arrow all around the tank trying to take him down... It's amuzing..

I should say that i believe just about anything is possible, you just have to know whats going on in your tank.. If I still had my shoal of Pirahna they would be with my rays... & watched like a hawk....

If that was to me the answer is yes i did.

Well he has been in there for a month now and all is going well.
The only problem so far was in the first week, the ray kept trying to get under some bog wood where the jelly cat lays. But after a few days he has learn't not to do this and all has been well since.

Been a little longer now and still no problems.

Arowana and rays make great tankmates for home aquaria. I've seen little aggression between my other fish and the rays. I would say it comes down to what the personality of the cichlid is. My oscars are wimpy and spend 90% of the time up at the surface in a corner hiding.

I would go bare bottom in that tank to lessen the want by the cichlids to dig in the substrate but I kept rays with all sorts of cichlids with no issues. Rays were bigger/same size as cichlids.

Most cichlids, even pbass are scared to death of rays, even when I had a tiny retic with pbass..
