Rays In Cali

I wanted to get a ray for a 125 gallon tank that i am going to set up. I was curious if this is legal in California. If not what are the penalties.

Not legal in cali, unless saltwater. I believe Florida freshwater rays might be legal there, but south american rays are not.

no... i think salt water rays are but that is it... the florida atlantic ray might be... it can live in fresh but u need to know what you are doing with them... also a 125 is to small for any stingray for life.

you will need a wide tank, and some detective work to find them in cali, but theyre here.

If I can find a ray at a lfs in cali id it legal or is it likely the store has it illegally. The store also had black piranhas.

That store is aiming for a shutdown. Both FW rays and Ps are illegal in CA
