Rays Internal parasites discussion

Urgghhh. your questions is like a punch in my face.

- yes i share net between tanks
- yes i share the pump to drain the water for WC between tanks
- yes one of my ray is stop eating and i suspect a parasite issue as everyone else are eating like pigs
- the sick ray is the new coming ray. He was fine for the first week and suddenly stop eating 3 days ago
- i cant find prazipro here in indonesia. I think i will buy it in singapore next week but im afraid if it will be too late already

Damn!

I store my nets in a bath of methylene blue. I have begun to dunk/briefly run my water change pump in it as well.

Look around this site, there is info about yhe main drug in prazipro. You should be able to find the powder where you live and mix some yourself. I foeget, but there is an special way to mix it....more than just "add water" so read up on it.

I think/hope you have time to get the meds. If he was eating for you already atleast he has some food in him. The meds usually get em to eat in several hours/ a day in my experience.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Ok. I was looking for the thread about the meds for you and i found your old thread here:

https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/stingray-poo-is-it-normal.690483/

Are you still fighting the original problem? I would guess that your current stock gave the parasite to the new fish.......based on your pist from the last week in july regarding parasite issues.

Quarantine your fish from now on.

Get prazipro and keep it on hand.

Here is the discussion anoutthe meds:

https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/689228/page-2

Page 2 post 15 gets talking about the meds.

Look for : Praziquantel

The new ray arrived on august 21st, about 1 month after i created that thread. All the old rays are healthy. Is it possible if the new ray is already sick to begin with? I got him from a farm in thailand.

Bad news, the sick ray didnt make it. Just found him dead in the quarantine tank :(

Im now doin 50% WC per day for the next 7 days. Im fillin the water very slowly to avoid any shock. I hope it can get rid most of the remaining parasites out of the system. Lesson learned; always have proper meds ready, and never mix any tools between tanks. and i learned it the hard way. :(

What is this worm? Found it in the main tank. Was this the culprit?

No luck still. Tried ghost shrimps and frozen worm, didnt success

do you have access to tetra parasite guard tab there?
people here use it for deworming their rays, and its quite ray friendly.

ouch, just read you lost your ray :( sorry for the loss.
