It's been like 3 days now, my pair of Motoro's and Leo's won't eat a thing. They aren't moving a great deal and both the females are pregnant. Only the pair of MM are eating and acting normally. I don't know what to do, I've cleaned the filter and did small WCs. I'm really worried for I just can't afford to lose my pregnant females. I'll be checking their faeces for signs of internal parasites.:(

could be parasites:irked: how do u change ur water? manually or automatic? maybe just behind on some waterchanges....

hmm maybe do another water change... up your temp and keep the tank dark... what do you normally feed?

i know it's freezing cold there in china now.. may be the temp? anyway good luck and happy chinese new year..

It could be because of the shrimp being not very fresh, temp is 28 degrees celcius.

I live in the south and it's around 18 degrees celcius right now, my water temp is 28 degrees celcius. Thanks for the good luck, I feel I'll be needing alot of it! Happy Chinese New Year to you too!

Just now I did a 15% WC, the male Leo and the female Motoro ate 1 small fish. But at least it seems that they are a bit more active right now. However, I did notice some very pale and small white spots on my Leos, the spots are not protruding out. I'll be feeding some shrimp tomorrow, I'll see whether they recover... and I'll be doing a NO2- test shortly.

And one more thing I forgot to mention, the rays aren't getting a great deal thinner even after a few days of starvation. Constipated? If so will aquarium salt work as a natural laxative? Raised temps would help with constipation right?

Raised temperature usually speeds up the metabolism yes, but make sure the water is oxygenated enough. O2 exchange, water movement and so on are just as important.

Oh ...and I would stop feeding feeders. Worms, shrimp, pellets... so many healthy options.

Those pale spots are not a good sign. Just whatever you do don't try and move them keep the lights off do the salt thing and try to just feed them worms for now. I've lost quite a few motoros to bad shrimp so I think thats your problem.
