hope she makes it!

what is the cross??

She's still doing good! Swelling gone down, and the redness is better. I'll snap a pic in a little while.

She has to be pure Motoro...NO other possibility.

I've never seen newborn Motoros...but All of their patterns are amazing! She looks like a Pearl hybrid to me....but no chance.

I'm going to introduce her mom to my new Leo hybrid male. She's already eating and playing, and I'm keeping her separated. I will put him in there tomorrow, or wednesday. Then I'll refine my ICU for the little one if she pulls through, and now her chances are looking fairly good I'd say...or at least better than I thought.

Right now, she's in the same container that I took the picture in. I have it set in my upper tank, and c-clamped to the glass. So she's staying warm, but not getting water recirculated yet. I've been switching out small amounts every now and then, but I'm being careful not to disturb her.

Sorry about your loss. I have done equally stupid things as has any person.

You say you know better and I am sure you do but there is still a lesson here.

You must continue to learn just as you must continue to refine the knowledge and skills you already know.

Glad to here the little girl is doing better than expected.

great to hear mike

Ok, she's lived for at least 12 hours now. and I am prepared for her to keep going. Due to her early arrival (from what I'd thought, anyways), I needed to make a place for her to be safe while she recovered, but I couldn't guive her the whole upper tank.

I found this extra pond-planter, and felt around the inside very carefully. All of the mold flashing is facing outward, and I deemed it to be a safe container for her. Now she can get fresh water circulation, and it is secure enough to not get knocked off by any other rays.

I think she's a special girl to have lived through this. I may keep her...if I don't, I want her to go to someone who understands what she's been through. This is assuming that she makes it....

If this doesn't seem like a suitable situation for her to be in for a week or so, I'm open to suggestions.

Well... It was too much damage...

It was a boy also... Couldn't see the tiny claspers throught he cloudy plastic before.

I don't know if I should have been medicating him with something to help his injuries...or not... ?His slime coat was shedding today, and then he just let go.

I won't make that mistake again.

sorry about the loss. i thought those might have been claspers in the last pic. im not sure about the meds but i doubt there was much you could do to in this case. at least you tried and didnt just count him out in the first place.

Yeah, I think he went too quick for infection to set in... It looked like as the blood left the bruised area, that is was all just dead tissue.

Moving forward...

I did more work on the new pool, and I made sure not to neglect support capacity for another pool above. I'll get a picture a bit later...and I need some more lumber. I really don't think that the upper pool will be as big of a deal as I had thought initially...It's just an engineering issue...I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. This new pool will give me plenty of space until I collect a few more.

I also didn't forget about the Tilapia that are going to hatch pretty soon. I was able to get another 55g tank filled Last night, and it should be warm enough soon. This will be perfect for the White Tilapia fingerlings, and then the fry can go into the 10g.

I have 1 more 55g tank outside that needs to be re-sealed...After that, I'm officially out of Tilapia space...But that is another issue that I'll just find a way to overcome....

These things are all challenges...not problems. If it was too easy, I may have gotten bored with it by now. I've never really stuck with anything that ends up being easy. One reason why I love racing... It's never easy to run up front, and I run my racing operation with the same "refuse to lose" attitude, and the same "So what if they have more money" philosophy. Life's victories, both great and small, are always much better when you have to work hard for them.
