Rays on a budget- My (somewhat long) story w/pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'll drain the pool, sort through them to see if any will make good breeders, and feed the rest to the rays.

My new plan for selling feeders when I'm able to produce enough is to euthanize them in ice-water, pump them full of Mazuri Shark/Ray gel (25% of their body weight), then feeze them solid. Then I have a Stingray specific version of frozen silversides. I can also do them with other high nutrient feeds for other specific needs.

I don't think it'll ever work out to ship live feeders...

Woke up from a dead sleep to "Mike! Get up! You've got babies!"

My camera skills at daybreak are pretty poor. I shouldn't have put them on a white background, and I didn't have the Polarized filter on, but here's the best pic of what I took. 2m & 2f

Well, actually there was one minor complication, but I got lucky. One of them somehow managed to slip through the guard I made and put on the drain, but since I re-did the sump, there's nothing in there for them to get crushed against. I'm lucky though...there's an 800w heater that is in that part of the sump!

Yeah! crazy coincidence, lol! I'll get the rest of thos pics for you as soon as the batteries get charged up.

Mr Motoro is mad at me in the meantime... I encarcerated him in a cage in the corner of the pool. The other boys need a turn to get some action.
