Rays on a budget- My (somewhat long) story w/pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This has got to be one of the greatest threads that I have ever come across. I really wish that I could order some of your leo pups when you have them but the stars just don't line up at the moment. Once I am out of the Army and back in Chicago I would love to get a few from you, but that's at least 3 years from now. I hope you are still in business when I am ready.

Ok, I have a whole mess of photos to go through and upload...It'lll take me a couple days to crop and re-size them...

But let's cut to the chase and get right to the good stuff.

Mike (H2O Custom) came through AGAIN last night with a couple of Males for me. ;)

FYI- If you use Microsoft Pic Manager (in MS Office), you can select the "view all" button instead of one at a time, press and hold shift and highlight all that you want (using the arrow keys) and resize them all at the same time using the edit pictrues "Resize" option.... And then save them all at once as well! Make a large task of resizing many pics WAY faster.... YOu can even reanme groups at once also... Same process other than using the "Rename" Option...

Everything look great by the way...

Thanks again for all the support!

On the pics...I know I can do that...but I'm kinda picky about cropping pics and stuff, and maybe I'm also resistant to new methods...lol. But I always like to make efficient use of the server space with tight cropping...

I believe I have solved my electrical problem without an electrician. The 2 sub-panels don't go through the main breaker...but they are also limited by only having 2 slots which are filled. But while searching around yesterday I found where each box is rated for 70 amps...but each breaker is rated for 15 amps (so 30A per box)

Then I found that there are double breakers that fit in the spot of a single breaker.

SO...I can get 2 15Ax2 breakers and condense both existing circuits into 1 side of each double breaker...then I can get 2 20Ax2 breakers and have the ability to add 80 more amps worth of circuits without replacing a box.

Since these are 110v where the individual breakers plug in...I feel safe enough doing the swap without having the power company come to shut it down.

Yippee!!!

You don't have to do that, can't you just pop the out or shut it off? It should cut the power to the Whole Box. I would still be very careful being that the main is 220... That packs WAY more of bite than 110!

Not for sure, so I called my electrician friend to verify a couple things... It seems that my suspicion was correct and that these subpanels must have a main cutoff...therefore, they aren't done correctly to start with. Each single breaker is only 110...but still...Not cool when you can't shut it off to work on it.

He said he'd be over today or tomorrow, so that will be nice....It's all fun and games till the house burns down, so this will be nice to know it's done correctly.

i fixed it for you

I made some changes to the lighting in the fish room about a week ago. Replaced one of the ballasts in the original fixture with a T8 4-bulb ballast (the old one wasn't igniting reliably) and I installed full-spectrum bulbs. I also replaced the wall switch with a switch that has a digital timer in it...I should have done this right from the beginning...

But after a week or so of consistent and bright 18hr days...the Tilapia are responding quite well. This will make life better... ;)
