Rays on a budget- My (somewhat long) story w/pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi Mike sounds like your having a ball, what with all these females wanting to give you a hug.lol. Hope they all produce some nice pups for you cuz its been a while since you've had any if i recall correctly. I dont know much about speedway only that you go fast and need 2 pairs of underwear.HaHa. Good luck for the season with that and hope you make a few bucks. My female superspot is due her first litter in 10-15 days time and cant wait for them to make an entry into their fishy home.

yes..it has...the 2 'reliables' were both pregnant when the Leo died last fall...so they've spent all winter getting back to being ready....and with as good as my water tests have been going, that has to be why they are doing so well the last few weeks especially. Heck..It doesn't seem like too long ago that I dumped 40lbs of salt in to help with a stressed new arrival...and now I can't even tell the difference between the WC and captives...they are all happy and playful...which is why I'm lovin em so much...

Going down to test the water though...can't take anything for granted. Did that enough already.

Mike

Sounds like a good idea. I dont think enough people do water tests cuz if they did they would'nt have so many problems.I test my water for everthing Ph,No2,No3,Nh4,KH and GH at least twice a week so i have an idea of whats happening in my tank and just by looking at my fish is a good indication aswell, I just keep to the same routine and keep everything stable. Glad that things are looking up for you cuz if there is 1 guy that deserves it,it's you my friend!

I just finished reading through this entire thread and all I can say is WOW. You've hit some major bumps in the road but keep at it until you succeed. A true inspiration for anyone who's ever dreamed of starting a setup like yours. I've always wanted to own rays, but now more so than ever(just need to convince the wife I need to upgrade my tank again, but once I do I know where I'll be going for some incredible specimens.)

Photo-wise...Things would look very close to page #74..post #739...Although 2 of those tanks above the stoick tank have water and fish in them...about 50 of a new Tilapia strain from Isreali lines...and my fist generation of my own breeders that are maturing. I have some fish still needing to go in these tanks, but there is no rush because they aren't breeding size. right now, it's feed feed feed...wait wait wait.

What a cold nasty rainy week...but I'm still trying to get the car ready for friday...thats what I hate about racing for points...hurry up and get ready for the rain. Monday morning, I woke up to THIS- How motivating, huh? lol.
