Rays on a budget- My (somewhat long) story w/pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok...Power must have went out about 3am or so guessing by when I heard rain...but who knows. All I know is I am SOO glad that I have so much more water and surface area...none of the rays were bothered...and power didn't come on till almost noon. I had very little fuel on hand, so wanted to save the generator for if I really needed it...I wasn't thinking and had my wife drive the car to work (down to 1 vehicle for a while).

I did find some very inconvenient 'bugs' in my bio-reactor setup...and these 'bugs' were 'enhanced greatly' by yesterdays water change and over-filling of the system...I can add a couple hundred extra gallons with no problem...unless the power goes out...lol.

so, it was over-full...I was going to drain it down today...and combine this with the way I put the inlet on the bio-reactor allowing another 30 gallons of water to siphon back through the pump and also lock up the pump with Kakldness...what fun...so I have another flood...LOVE IT!!!

Shame your having some bad weather over there hope it does'nt cause you to much disruption.
Keep looking forward to the positives Mike and leave the negatives behind you!

haha on a note about the gas for ur generator, saw a news story a couple of weeks ago about a family who was storing a 55gal drum of gas in there basement for emergencies and it blew up. no one got hurt but it destroyed their house. just be careful where ur storing all ur extra gas if you get some, maybe outside buried in a shallow hole or something. i know your alot smarter than that but just making sure your careful

Gasoline...indoors...evaportaing...mmmm must be they liked the smell... Reminds me of a story...

Pulled into my buddies driveway once during a power outtage to see him just about go up in flames with his whole truck and generator on fire with gasoline still siphoning out of the truck...luckily, he grabbed a rake and flipped the hose out of the truck, and flipped the fuel door closed...but man...

Now...think about that scene...and then once you have the scenario in your head...be sure you have the generator still running...because you didn't want to shut it off...then...add in the shop vac plugged into the generator to start the siphon...because you wouldn't want to risk tasting gasoline...

Yeah...the shop vac turned into a jet engine with afterburners and the whole works...

Even intelligent people do some really dumb things at times...lol.

Still busy busy here...but got a few things out of the way. Had a great time at the races Friday night, and the car did very well consitdering the time it's been and having a new driver. Finished 5th out of 18 modifieds in a 50 lap caution free feature. He was just as fast as the leaders by the end...but needed a cautuion ith about 20 to go in order to get caught back up. Sure was nice to get out in the sunshine at the track again!
