Rays on a budget- My (somewhat long) story w/pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mike this was an awesome thread, totally inspiring. I just read through 82 pages in one sitting. I now totally want a ray. If I ever get to the point of being able to house one properly I will definitely be looking you up.

Also I made a little something for your gofast-mobile. It probably wont help with the wind resistance though. Best of luck with your venture I hope it blows up (in a good way).

Thanks for the support everyone, again, and everyone is welcome here always.

I've actually been working on some race-car graphics stuff, but it might not all get done this year. Problem with the magnet is that the body is all sheet aluminum, but we'll come up with something really cool.

So when you going to start selling those “Stingray” mod chassis? Guess you need to plan an addition onto the building you haven’t even built yet for the fab shop.

Not a bad idea if the economy was better...lol.
First let's win this championship..."2nd in point's" isn't really a good closer as far as selling points go. haha

well... things have been going along ok and such...The female Leo just up and died...don't have any explanation or reason...all the other rays are fine and I never saw her sick or skipping a meal. Water tests great...

I'm really bummed...

Really sorry about the Leo. Hope everything gets back on track :)

This thread is inspiring! I read all pages in 2 afternoons (first time I completed a thread this long without skipping other posts just for the pictures) and am hoping for more. Keep it up!

Better update soon... in the meantime, things are getting back on track. Racing has been keeping me busy on top of all the fish duties. Here's a few pics to appease... The bass are about 7"-8" now...

Bit of an update- First, I'll say that my mom was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor and it's been really affecting me a lot for seveal months. Thought it was stabilized, but now rapidly getting worse again.

Yesyerday I flubbed up and killed 3 out of 4 remaining Peacock Bass. I decided to move them into an upstairs tank and I failed miserably at the acclimation for some reason. The L066 Plecos did fine in the move, I think the Bass got extremely stressed while netting them and never recovered...Possibly a bit of a sedative may have helped, I'm not sure.

I figured out what killed my female Leo...I also lost one of my motoro females...but once again it was my fault for neglecting some water parameters. I was so into testing Ammonia before I put the bio-reactor that once again I took things for granted....I did find a new water test method in the process.... Let's just say, the tap water that fills my tanks is .8 E.C. , Fertilizer solutions I mix run right around 1.6-2.0 E.C. , The stingray system on Saturday measured 2.8 E.C. I thought it was an error... I've been flushing it out ever since and it's down to about 1.6-1.8 now...all the rays are active again. I hate to blame things on "life"...but my motivation lately has been down while dealing with mom and some other really difficult life issues as well that I can't get into.

Many things have affected my "get back on the horse" attitude lately... But I've declared an end to it. It'll be difficult to manage things with mom and everything, but I have no choice. I can't let this affect anything else and certainly am not going to let it cause me to fail here.

With all that, we got a much needed pick-me-up at the races on Friday. It's been a fairly stressful season...we've been so close so many times, yet seemed to fail at putting it all together...then we had a couple DNF's due to small parts failures...It was almost becoming not-fun... Well, Friday night everything went our way. First night with my own new engine and also a new sponsor and a new Mike Wazowski bobblehead on the hood scoop. Mike Wazowski was on there during my long "hot-streak" after I built the car, and he died in a crash I had one night when the throttle stuck wide open. Well, I got to thinking about how the car hasn't won a single thing since then...sio I found another one...it showed up in Fridays mail..it was on the car by qualifying time and we won the feature. Superstitious much? Not really...but I'm not messing with what works...
