i cant wait to see how these new pups will turn out. the last ones looked good now we will see if its the male or female that will give them that spotting. keep up the good work mike its amazing how much you have progressed over these past few months.

Frustration is when you try and net a female to strip her eggs and she ejects them all over the tank like they were on a spring loaded trap. It can also be defined as the moment when you are holding a female in your hands getting ready to strip the eggs, and she decides that she would rather flop onto the floor a couple times in a row. Or when you do a couple water changes to your Stingray system, and the water suddenly goes from crystal clear to muddy brown. Or... I could go on and on...

If it was all smooth and easy, then everyone would be doing it. There's a lot of great stuff in this thread, but the days I don't update are sometimes filled with stress. Daily challenges... unexpected setbacks...I don't share them all, but this is reality.

One of the rays I've been waiting on died. She never ate after she spit up the hook...I guess it's not a financial setback (for me), but I'm just bummed about the whole process of catching wild rays. It's one of the reasons why I want to be involved in captive breeding, so I just have to remind myself that I'm not collecting these for a personal collection, but rather to increase the supply of captive bred rays so that a few more might stay in the rivers where they truely belong. I'm not sure what she will be replaced with, I hate that word in this context. But I know I'm dealing with the right person...that part is solid. I don't mind the wait...when it's time, they will come.

And the pregnant Motoro? I can't help but wonder...what if I don't know what I'm talking about? What if she's just fat? Heck...I can barely see through the water right now to check on her.

Things are going better than planned overall... Just gotta remember that. I already have some money coming in, and it's already enough to cover my costs. That is amazing to me...really.

Wow, what a great post. Thanks for sharing that. All I can say is that I and many others are living through your adventure with you and we are rooting for you to pull it off. Youre not just chasing your dream, youre giving all other dreamers hope that one day they can give it a go. Your goals are very admirable, I hope that you reach them.

Hey. Sorry about the ray. That's kind of funny.."Frustration is.." Kinda like the old "Love is..." Maybe you could have "What the h$ll was I thinking is..." Mine would be "What the h$ll was I thinking is...catching a cold at the same time I decide not to cover a fish tank only to miss the fresh smell of mildew in the air:nilly:...on my clothes...on my bed..." and it doesnt help that I dont sleep in that room either, only going in to feed the fish. I cant help but to wonder, what's next? :screwy:

Just when I thought I was all done with flooding issues...I put in the drain system, only have to put a 1/4" waterline in each tank to refill...havn't had a spill since...

I'm VERY lucky that I fixed up the sump pump when I put my drain in.

The washing machine got stuck on 'fill' for about 4 hours. I got up to get a drink and heard the sump pump cycling in the basement about every 30 seconds.

I had just regenerated the water softener, and it was half way through another regen cycle when I got down there, so I'd put this at about a 2500 gallon spill...Unfortunately, the concrete doesn't slope towards the sump crock...so I have the worst flood ever in the fish room.

Things like this make me want to throw a temper-tantrum and throw myself on the floor.

I can't wait until the time comes when I am able to move all of this into a building that is designed for such things!

Challenges.

hey mike, just checking in, been in europe for the past two weeks so havent been able to comment much, really happy to see all the work being done. sorry to hear about your flood, keep up the hard work though, ill be back to my mulitple comments a day shortly

I was wondering where you were!

I fixed the washer! If they would have put an extra 10 cent clamp on a little hose on the line that feeds the pressure switch that tells the timer and inlet valve that it's FULL...it would have never happened. What a pain to get to...

Back to drying the basement. ;)
