Rays on a budget- My (somewhat long) story w/pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
About 6 months.

He said he's probably going to make a replica to keep for himself as well, and he's doing this at a huge discount for me.... That's when you know you found someone who is doing it for the love of it.

Mike, If you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost to get a ray done by a taxidermist? No worries if you don't want to answer, just curious.

Assuming that a custom cast of your own animal is used, and from the 3 people I referenced, a ray of this size would be $350 (avg) at normal pricing for a 2 sided mount which would include a base.

This will definately be a 2 sided mount, we just havn't discussed the layout specifically yet.

Of the people that quoted me these prices, only one of them I really felt confident in...especially when it comes to the eyes.... I know of no other creature that has such a unique iris structure in the eye.

I'll post up a link to some of his work soon.

any updates on how the rest of your rays have bounced back or the fish room it self now that its starting to get cold out and your pools going to have to be moved inside?

cant wait to see the mount, even some of the replica work they do is incredible, i got a 22in rainbow one time and took some pictures and measurments befor i released it and they guy was able to make an identical mount for me
