Another Dentist' setup....lol....j/k....I'd definately upgrade on the filtration for that tank....AC110($30-40) and/or a FilStar xP3($80-90)....This-IS-MonsterFishKeeping, so show us a much, MUCH bigger tank next time.....And definately some real Monsters, not feeders....Happy Holidays, don't drink and drive:eek: ....

I would also think of removing the underground filter before the plants start growing and rooting well. Underground filters really are obsolete and out dated. Also might not work well once the roots get down there and entangle everything. Most people vacuum their gravel for the water changes, but if you have the right balance of fish and plants it will take care of its self.

Lol Thanks! I do agree its pretty stock on what it looks like. But my thoughts are that I let it grow to my tank instead of packing it full of crap to look better. Remember its only just over a month old.

So tomorrow I guess I will go out and buy a bigger filtration system

Also i have heard so many different opinions on undergravel its confusing.. So maybe just a bubble stone or nothing at all?

Thanks, it was also recommended today to try purigen. So many options.........

Yea, purigen will help a lot with dissolved organics.

So I will start wih changing out the filter, I can use this one on a smaller tank i plan to have as a backup / detox / maybe other.

Removing the undergravel filter may be a pain but being its not totally established it might be ok. If I remove that and the three vertical airstones should I replace them with other airstones or will the use of a bigger filter take care of that for me? Im in learning mode here of course, but as always most everything is a contant learning mode

So just as an FYI my current levels are at

PH - 8.4
Nitrate - 10ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Ammonia - 0ppm

This has been this way for two weeks now with about 10% water change a week. My water out of the tap is 7.4 PH no nitrate, nitrite, ammonia or chlorine.. So that helps..

I absolutely would not remove an established filter from your take and replace it with a new one, you'll be right back to cycling again......The Whisper 60 is a pretty good sized filter, just add the sponge and cell pore it will be perfec, imo....
