Re-Joining the Aquatic Fun

The only problem with ugf and live plants is the plant roots will grow thru the plate and clog up a portion of the flow.and youll never be able to move the plant.
Not really a big deal Imo,the ugf is making up for the whispers shortcoming in biofiltration.
Of course the emperor or ac are better filters but not urgent to run right out and buy one

Add this to your whisper filter, and you won't need another filter, this has more bio area then any of the filters aforementioned, also add the second item listed, you'll be golden... Ditch the carbon it's useless unless trying to remove meds...

Yea, purigen will help a lot with dissolved organics.

Very bad idea to use purigen or any nitrogen limiting media when live plants are involved. It would be like never feeding your fish, or actually like feeding them, and then making them puke it up before they get anything.

Even if the plant roots into the UGF, you can still move the plant. I have seen one plant root deep enough fast enough to be a problem. Even so, if you cut a plants roots at more than 1/2" off they will grow faster.
