just out of curiosity, why do fish cost so much in Australia? I don't see that the fish cost a lot from farms in other countries and freight shouldn't really be anymore expensive either. do you pay extra boosted taxes on imported items?

sorry for the derail :)

Pretty much that. Not a large number of savvy fish keepers in Australia, and our strict quarantine laws also mean that most fish have to be bred here. There were very small populations of polypterids etc. in the hobby before quarantine laws got so tight, so numbers available for sale are certainly limited.

so who is making all the money then? someone in the chain is rinsing you guys out and collecting some big money!

I am laughing, AT YOU. You shouldnt be complaining.
There are so few polys here, so high prices and i see YOU complaining, why in the f ing world are you complaining, i will tell you this;

Here. there only exist as people know of in the whole country:
3x Lapradei
1x Retropinnis
1x Delhezi, (where 2 but mine died)
2x Congicus
Also
Senegalus
Ornatipinnis
Palmas Polli (less than 25)
Palmas Palmas (less than 15, propably less than 10, even 5)

So what are you wining about mate. I would go get that endli if i where you.

Oh yes and i forgot, albino senegalus, no albino sen in the country, the first 1 will be arriving in my tank about 20 January.

For me in Manitoba, Canada I paid $50 Can. ($40 U.S.) for a 2" ornate bichir and $150 Can. ($120 U.S.) for a 5" endli. I haven't seen very many around either.

Yes Puffer it is in eu.

well then, you can transport tropical fish within the EU without a license so you can get all these wonderful fish for good prices via any country within the EU. I'm sure we can come up with a plan to supply you with lots of naughty fish at good prices:)
