I went to one of those big book stores last week they had a great selection of CDs hard to find classic rock bands that I love. Anyway the area was about 1/4 the size and the woman said it is because everybody downloads now and sales were way off. I'm not 16 I don't want to friggin down load music. I love Kindle. We were on the road all day yesterday. I downloaded several free kindle books and was thoroughly entertained. I only stopped reading when I had to check driving directions, or check my email, or browse fish forums. I am, however, considering buying a book at the airport this morning, as the battery life on my Droid Incredible is less than the length of my flight. Too bad I never thought of getting a spare battery. I love free Kindle books.

I'm not sure if it's possible, but have you tried reading 'War & Peace" by Tolstoy, on Kindle? You may need to purchase several batteries to read it. It's hard bound cover makes for great in-flight reading on international flights. :D The smell of the pages and the feel of a physical, tangible object like a hard bound book just make reading it worthwhile and pleasureable.

I've got too many books. Going to have a big yard sale.

What type of books are you putting in your big yard sale and when have you planned for this catistrophic event? On the serious side of things, will there be reference books of any kind? You have sparked a definite interest here. I've found some terrific reference books on several topics of interest at yard sales. Please PM me about the books, pacu mom. Thanks.

To the OP, my most humble appologies for the brief derail.

I can see the advantages of the e books for text books and things like that, however for me the smell of the ink, the turning of the pages, weight of the book all adds to the whole experience. I also think it's sad that the E books are the same price as the printed ones.

seems some of you are refering to reading online....you know what's way different then reading from a device meant for reading books in text format. That's like comparing listening to a cd through a jukebox to listening to that same cd ripped to an ipod. i could never sit at my laptop and read through a book but i could sit down with a kindle or nook no problem.

my opinion, i do both. i perfer hardcovers and alot of the books i'd want in hardcover are only available in store when they first come out (take up more room then soft cover) and i don't like the small print or the wait. i like the way hardcovers fit in my hand on or on my lap, if i'm already going to inconvient myself with small print, might as well use an eread device anyways.

real books, they look good on shelves and aren't bad for your eyes like electronic devises are.

real books ftw, i find reading long articles on a screen gets boring as all hell, plus i love the idea of building my own personal library, and not a database.
