Real Books Vers Electronic Books

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got one as a gift for Christmas(literati) but still haven't tried it out.I had bought an entire series of books and have about 8 paper backs to read through before I'll give the electronic book a try but I'm kinda thinkin I'm gonna miss the paper.
Like when you read a book that has a bad ending, you can just throw the book across the room in disappointment.I don't think I'll be doing much throwing with the "literati" or folding a page over when its time to put the book down ~ IDK ~ the usual things I've done for years with a book, not sure I can do after. Sometimes you may read a page in a book that has something worth saving on it so I'd always fold the bottom corner so I could go back and read it another day etc.I can't do that with the electronic book,at least not that I know of.

I am an avid book reader, as my frineds know.Allways swore I would not touch Ebooks and e book readers.

Well, I got an Ipad and started downloading books from Amazon and, know what, you read them just as well, with the added pleasure of knowing that inside that gadget you can carry a ton of books.

I am absolutely conquered.

I´m a fan of real books. I´m happy with my bibliotheque! It gives a good feeling if you have real paper in your hand. Regards Dirk

I don't like the smell of old books...too musty for me. We're in the process of building a fish room/library. Our book collection is going to be whittled down to avoid that musty odor.

E books can be totally amazing. I have a Bible that can be read in umteen versions and languages. Someone at church thought I was texting/playing on my phone until I read a verse out loud. I was actually following the lesson. Yeah for fast, fun, fabulous, fantastic smart phones. I don't have to lug around books while on vacation. I'm browsing this forum with my phone.

with the kindel you can high light and book mark quotes you like. I didn't think i would like electronic books either but i find it easier on my eyes then real paper and ink. i am able to focuse on the words at multiple distances and i can hold and turn the page with one hand.

Real books all the way. When my Mother passed, I kept all of her books.

Her last count was around 500. She has all the classics and so much more. All of her books are in mint condition. She even made a card catalog and index, I have that too as a guide. She told my brother and I to sell her books and we would have quite a bit of money. I am not going to sell them. She invested too much time and money in collecting the books. When I die, they will probably be sold or given away.
