This is a VERY wierd question I know.

Can I put a real deer skull in my fish tank? It has been "cleaned" and is a bare skull, similar to a euro mount (google it). It has not been bleached or chemicaled other than tap water, but I think it'd be different in the tank. The only thing I can think of may be a nitrate spike from any small-hole flesh that may be in the skull. Will that hurt the fish if they eat any of the meat? They have eaten many bloodworms, brine shrimp and other meaty foods on occasion (as a treat) without any bloat or other ill effects.

Any other concerns that anyone can think of?

I have Malawi, African cichlids, rope fish, syno. petricola (don't know new name), pictus cats and a pleco. It's also in a 125g tank.

It'll be fine.
I'd boil it first though.

However...it will EVENTUALLY dissolve (in a LONG time) and will raise the water hardness.

It should be fine. :)

I can tell you right now the rope fish like it. It is attempting to pick off invisible meat apparently...

It has been boiled already.

My auratus keeps trying to "peck" at the antlers.

There's a nature center in Cape Cod that has a tank labeled Northern Searobin, Tautog, and Northern Kingfish. I saw the og and the king, but just a Searobin skull...tribute to a fallen monster.:headbang2

It should be fine. I put some cow bones in mine cause of all the hiding places. I didnt boil it, i put them in a 5 gallon bucket with a cup of bleach and let them soak overnight then emptied it and let fresh water run over it for 2 days and my fish love it!

I have the skull of the cow too but its no in my tank and was wondering what ur skull looks like in ur tank?

Looks pretty freakin cool if you ask me. Nice touch
