This has got to be one of the funniest posts I have read in awhile. ettfettbranamn, I thank you.

too freakin funny!

I think what this really comes down to is, do you want to just own a fish? or take care of a fish? Anyone can box up an animal and keep it alive. Its something else to have it thrive. Arent we monster fish KEEPERS, not monster fish owners?

Yeah I agree with all that. But I still think if the fish lives a long time like 20 years it has to be somewhat healthy. Its not going to each its full size but I would not considerate too bad of a stunting.

So if you died at age 25 after living in a closet your entire life then we could say the same for you.

See how your logic is flawed?

roflmao, oh my, i'd seen that pic before many times but have never noticed that "wardrobe malfunction" i have no idea why you were even looking there but thanks for the laughs!

I think the reason most people have RTCs that max out at around 3.5' is because of stunting, or poor water quality, or tank too small for them. It's not like someone somewhere once pulled out a 5' RTC from the Amazon, and it's never happened again. Fishers have consistently pulled out 5' RTCs from their natural habitat, so it is safe to assume that is their average size. Their shortcomings in the home aquaria are not an excuse for smaller tanks, but a consequence of them.

Not sure why you would want a red tailed catfish at all? There are many many much better lookin catfish, more active catfish, more interesting catfish, easier to keep catfish, cheaper catfish and more expensive catfish. It's not even the biggest of the catfish, a monster for sure, but not the biggest by far. So even if you had the room I have no idea where you would get the desire. Seems like a lot of fuss over a fish that lacks well behind in every category for being a specimen in the home aquarium.
