There is this awesome website...I think its called...Google? I am not 100% positive on this though. But I think they it might have some neat care sheets.

Anyways, no you don't need a heating pad because beardeds are baskers so they will get their heat from the lamp.

.....because that was a helpful way to answer his question by belittling him. :irked:

Anyway, I have a lamp AND a pad in my beardie tank. Just having a lamp is fine, but I find that my girl likes to lay on the warm spot above the pad right after she eats. So to answer your question, you only NEED a lamp, but having a pad won't hurt.

EDIT: Oh and one more thing. I actually have two lamps like the previous member posted. One is strickly a UV bulb which runs exactly 12 hours per day and the other is a red heat bulb in a designated basking spot that runs 24/7. Hope this helps.

Belittle? Nah it just helps to do a little research on an animal first before even thinking about getting one. And this little website is probably a great source of info. I just get really frusterated because I am not going to research it for him. I am also sure there is already a thread on Beardeds on this site. Not positive but using the search tool helps.

soo
i need 2 lights
or just one?

depends where you live,im in cali so the night drop was ok.I used the uvb long lamp and a basking lamp both during the daytime.I had an outdoor screen cage half shade so a couple days a week they could get real sunlight. The most important thing with that is to make real sure they are not too hot while out side>I had 2 get almost heat stroke from the shade moving away.No heat pad needed as long as the daytime basking temps are good.
