really confused on this beardie thing

Their requirements are not this confusing...
For light:
--1 basking light, 1 uvb light
-------or--------
--1 uvb flood lamp

They are fine with nightime drops, i live in CT and mine did fine for its lifetime with no heat at night. Not sure why you think you NEED a heating pad, its easiest to set them up with an elevated basking spot, then go down to the bottom when they have had enough.

Get a thermometer and measure the temp. It requires some experimentation because not everyone lives in an area with the same temperatures. Or has high heat, air conditioning in their house.

that should cost me around 60 to get the fixture and the top right?
