Where ever i'm at!
Just got my brand new 150 complete and running and one day later find it almost empty on the floor in the morning. After the disaster I see that there is a crack the entire length of the bottom glass. Glass tanks do break for no reason but now I'm thinking acrylic even though I prefer glass! What to do?

I have read on this board of members whos acrylic tanks having ruptured at the seems,
so it is possible for them to give out also.

Both acrylic and glass have their faults. I'm guessing your stand is more to blame than the glass. I've seen pictures of acrylic tanks bust (oddball had a 400g that gave loose IIRC) and I've also heard of glass tanks failing. No matter what you get, there is a risk of tank failure. My acrylic tank makes me more nervous than the glass tanks because of the way it bows (yes acrylic fanboys, thicker acrylic will solve that problem. It will also triple the price)

Ive never ever had problems with my monster glass tanks, On the other had Ive owned a 180gal acrylic that failed 3 times on me, thank god it was in a basement. The seems were to blame twice, the last time it cracked from bowing.

The stand is not to blame, 3/4 oak very very strong with more than enough bracing, the stand was not damaged at all.

How level was it? Even a slight "kink" in the stand can cause failure. It cant be strong enough to hold a Mack truck, but if it's not 100% level it can make the tank fail.

It doesn't have to be 100% level, but it has to be 100% flat! If the stands top has a bow in it, a dip in it, or is not 100% flat it will cause thew bottom of a tank to crack!

Good call, I used the wrong term but meant the same thing.
