It doesn't have to be 100% level, but it has to be 100% flat! If the stands top has a bow in it, a dip in it, or is not 100% flat it will cause thew bottom of a tank to crack!
Not! "Level" is side to side and front to back. If it's off the water level just will be crooked. It doesn't effect pressure at all. If it was extremely out of "level" maybe.

No seems failed there is a crack right down the middle of the bottom pane! I have had 100 gallon in the same location for 5 years, it was level I assume the bottom piece of glass must have been the wrong thickness or a flaw with the stand.
Ive never ever had problems with my monster glass tanks, On the other had Ive owned a 180gal acrylic that failed 3 times on me, thank god it was in a basement. The seams were to blame twice, the last time it cracked from bowing.
Holly cow I have been lied to, I was told acrylic seams are stronger then the acrylic itself. I was also told that the acrylic would give out before the seams

I really disagree if its unlevel side to side but not front to back, or vise versa no biggie. However if its unlevel all teh way areound side to side and front to back , then the tank gets twisted. You can test this with anything breakable a cracker even.
Take a cracker put the front lower then the back nothing happend, now put one side higher then the other still nothing happend. Now put the back left corner higher then the front left corner and then also make the front right corner higher then the front left.
Broken crack becase it was twisted by complet unlevelness, also the same as not being flat. I agree that level is not the correct term but it can cause a problem if its unlevel at different degrees at different spots.
I'm moving my tank, a 210 gallon (84x24x24), into my room on its stand tomorrow.
The tank has been sitting outside, un-level on Pennsylvania (gets colder at night) grass since march.
I think it will be fine, its an oceanic... but that first night when she gets filled with water will be a rough one.
The tank was originally on its stand on cement, but the mexicans came and re-did my driveway, and the tank is where they left it about 4 months ago... on a quite un-even part of grass in my yard.

The tank should be on a styrofoam sheet so any irregularities (small ones) in the stand shouldn't affect the tank. I just got a 270g used tank that had the bottom glass shattered (many cracks). The lfs owner placed a whole new sheet over top of the cracked glass with silicone sandwiched between and the edges sealed. That was 2 years ago and no leaks. I figure that with the bottom glass being 1" thick on a 6' x 3' x 2' high tank there should be no problems.
The only tank I had that failed was a 60g sump that wasn't braced properly. After replacing the back panel and adding braces across the top, there has been no problem since (crossing my fingers).
You can try fixing your tank by adding a second layer of glass over top of the cracked one. I doubt that with styrofoam under your tank that you will have any further problems.
