reason for not buying altered fishes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i've actually seen the red blood parrots without the back tail at my local lfs. i thought it looked weird, but i didn't know they were cut off on purpose. that's messed up. that kinda reminds me of my severum when my gourami chewed off his back tail almost completely. it's slowly growing back now .

Unfortunatly the parrots are often sold as the heart parrot which is a rather expensive genetic sport population of tailess fish, the difference in price between a "normal" one and the mutant is considerable so peoplle try to fake it. I don't care for hybrids myself but as a policy I do not buy anything from stores that sell tatooed, dyeds, or deliberately mutliated fish. I also make sure that the manager knows why.

I am questioning my latest fish purchase.
"electric rock-lab"

In seriousness: I would not knowingly buy anything that isn't natural through normal, breeding means.

Thats worse than putting a sweater on your dog, but just barely.
