Until recently it was fairly common in some areas to mutilate children (blind or cripple them) in order that they brought in a higher income as beggars. The fact that people do the same to fish is not suprising.

Unfortunatly the parrots are often sold as the heart parrot which is a rather expensive genetic sport population of tailess fish, the difference in price between a "normal" one and the mutant is considerable so peoplle try to fake it. I don't care for hybrids myself but as a policy I do not buy anything from stores that sell tatooed, dyeds, or deliberately mutliated fish. I also make sure that the manager knows why.

the sad thing is this fishes are easily found in LFS in singapore and most prob around asia LFS.

i heard the idea came from taiwan, anyone knows?

its horrible, yet i wonder why so many LFS in singapore still carries them... Guess some people think it looks cute like a heart shape, thats why they buy..

i've seen them at all lfs around so cal. i honestly think they look retarded. there are lfs that have like 50 of them and after a week they are all gone. i can't believe people buy them.
