Rebuilding Pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I won't have any problems with soft water. Here in Kentucky our water is often referred to as liquid rock. My filter only takes out particulates and chemicals, no softening. The only way to get soft water here is catch it from the sky or spend a lot of $$ making it. Plus, all my boulders are limestone.

Sounds like a perfect pond for Frontosa...

What are the stocking plans?

After a week off, the crew was back today and the remaining boulders have been set on the water fall area. I'll post more pics tomorrow.

Here are the latest photos. All the large waterfall boulders are in place, now for the small detail work.

Photo 1 shows the retaining wall supporting the waterfall.

Photo 2 - close up of intended water course.

Photo 3 - overall waterfall.

Photo 4 - In case you were wondering, most of the boulders were moved with a backhoe. Those rocks are heavy.

The skimmer arrives via UPS today.

Frontosa and all other african cichlids do well in Ky water. I will be stocking with koi and a couple of goldfish and possibly some of the high fin banded shark. I also plan to include some mosquitofish, swordtails and florida flagfish.

Plants will include my water lilies, lotus, pickerel weed, hornwort, wysteria, moneywort, iris and another plant that I can't name at the moment.

And finally, more photos of the cascading water course.
