I'm not experienced with birds, but any bird that can do this is epic in my book.

Got to love final fantasy.

If your only 14 you would be better off with a cockatiel, parekeet or a song bird. Right now you have the time for a bird but in the next few years your life will be changing and you may not have the time you do now. I would also say to stay with a bird that is easy to take care of and does not get real loud. Think about what Latshki said about school, or the military if you should go that way. Plus some of the noiser birds could cause problems when you decide to move out and get your own place. and what happens when you meet that special someone and they say they can not stand birds?
I got lucky and when my wife left I was able to take the bird to my moms, now I can not have it back, it is her bird now. I'm a semi driver and gone for 2-3 weeks so i could not take care of the bird.

I used to have 2 cockatiels when I lived at my mom's house. A regular colored one that was gray with a yellow face and a show girl that was all yellow.
They were sweet birds till they had babies, then they were little ***holes.

I like that vid. The male I had would whistle the Andy Griffith theme song perfectlly along with it when ever my dad would watch it.

Right now, it seems like a dove would be my best option. My parents' biggest objection to a bird is the noise, and since doves are cheap, friendly, and pretty quiet, they could work for me.

I heard a 2' x 2' x 2' would be the best size for a diamond or ring necked dove, if it has daily time out of it's cage. Is that a good size?

Doves are great but have you considered button quails?

They are quite and come in many colors plus tiny . Saw some few weeks ago in garage sale . The lady housed them in Walmart rubbermaid long plastic bins since they do not fly.

Never saw them before so looked them up .

Seem incredibly easy and reminded me of tiny chickens .

I would recommend a budgie(parakeet) or cockatiel as the ideal starter parrot species. They aren't really loud and relatively easy to care for.

A 2' x 2' x2' sounds kind of small to me. And typically doves aren't a very hands on bird from what I have seen unless you can find a hand raised one which aren't real common. I recommend you go to avianavenue.com there are alot of resources there and people with alot of knowledge.

Here are some of Lucy my miligold macaw.
