You post it on here before you take it back...you may have just taken the last two from that river and ruined the population forever, especially since they seem to have paired in your eyes. You didn't know it was these fish. You went out catching fish where they were thought to not even be there. Simple as that, call whoever you need to and your done. If they prosecute you then America need a lesson in respect.
You cannot keep them and not say anything. The fact that you caught them in a location where they were believed extirpated makes your find highly significant beyond anything the trolls can say about the number of fish involved. I already sent a message to the NM DNR about your case (without disclosing any details beyond the species of fish, not that I have any details). We'll see what they say.
