recommended fresh water turtles

Seems like these come up every other week...
But I do keep a RES with my African Blue Zebras. I used to keep my snappers with them as well, but I sold the snappers.

I find that cichilds are pretty intellegent in general. I have lost a LOT of other types of fish (loaches, plecos) but the cichilds seem fine with turtles.

Although, I do have a 125G with lots of hiding.
 
My RES didn't give fish a problem till it hit about 6 in. I put in 6 feeder guppies and they lived and bred till I finally just took the turtle out and left them in, now everyone has snacks.

When the turtle was small I had him in a 20gL, and to keep it to where I only had to clean it once a week I had a Rena Filstar XP1, Tetra Whisper 30 HOB, ZooMed mini canister, and a RioAqua 50 with a sponge over the intake that stuck up at the water line to help skim. So they are kinda messy.
 
be very careful if you do put turtles in with fish. i had a ybs in my 240 with my oscars and they were fine for about six months then they started really chasing and nipping at the oscar i just about managed to catch it in time
