I used to just freeze blocks of ice in a quart tupperware without the lid on it. When needed pop out the giant icecube, refill it and put it back in freezer. The block of ice will melt slowly over about 2 hours and also adds water to make up for what is lost in evaporation at higher temps. Sometimes in the real hot weather I would use 2 a day but it would keep the water around 80.

Ive been doing similar but with RO/DI water in frozen blocks better to top off with that it does not add the nitrates and phosphates . Also no chlorine in the system. Its kind of like a preemptive top off
