Since atabapos are wild caught, they tend to be more territorial and aggressive. Be prepared to rehome or separate to different tanks when you see shredded fins. What size ate the other fish?

So it's best to go with red tapajos pike over the ataabapos Pike??

Red Tapajos are a bit calmer than atabapos. They can grow up together and you can still end up with a pike that wants to be on top once fully matured in 1-2 years. It will do anything and shred other fish to maintain it's position. So you still have to be prepared to decide who you want to keep and separate.

It can happen with any of the the lugubris type pikes, with Tapajos being the more "friendly" and lenticulatas being the more aggressive.

Also what size should I get my red tapajos pike if my sa/ca American cichlid are between 2.5 -5inch ???

The pike should small enough that those fish cannot be eaten, maybe no more than 6" total length.
