Have peacocks been bred in captivity? How easy are they? I had one a few years back but it was mean as hell...

You hit it on the nose with this one. I'd say 50% of these guys have never had monster fishes in monster tanks; probably just 55 gallon tanks. But they sure know alot by googling stuff. (Don't be offended unless this applies to you personally) Getting first hand experience and no "know it all" (which you couldn't possibly know) comments would be a miracle.

Or maybe when you've experienced the 100th person asking if you can take their pacu because it's gotten too big for their tank, or listened to the thousandth person say, "I want three of those piranha looking fish for my tank, big, why it's a huge 55 gallon. And fish only grow to the size of the tank anyway." Maybe after seeing lots of deformed and dead monsters like pacu from uninformed or uncaring people you will be a little more judgemental when someone so blithely says they want to breed pacu. Until that time do not presume to know the mindset of the people offering advice on an ill conceived idea. Maybe spend a little time looking this site over and discovering that these people have a little more first hand experience and are not "know-it-alls" on Google.
