Red devil tank mates??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im telling him to scrap the aro, and go for something more manageable like a pike, what am i missing here, hes asking about tank mates for a devil, and i know first hand there aint to many options that dont end badly, i have 3/4 of a festae upstairs as a result, hoping to help someone else avoid my mistake...

as soon as my kids are sleeping i will make the vid they arent as keen on things being swallowed as i am lol

, there sweet.pikes are really neat this guy is my first one just a basic male cinta, sohuld be able to find them pretty easily, and they get a good size but not insane like a silver aro man they get like 3 feet it sucks trying to house a beast that size,

an arowana too is too high end of a fish to just have a whoops with,m i mean even a silver is pretty basic but im sure your devil would be on the market after it rips your aro to shreds.

I have a 200 waiting in the garage...

Then why isn't the RD in there to begin with? Why fail to mention that in the 1st place? And why would you ask if a Arowana can be stuffed with an RD in a 55? I doubt you have a 200 gallon in the garage. I mean you are asking very inexperienced questions about stocking fish. You wanna keep big aggressive fish but haven't a clue about them yet. Get more educated first about fish. No way should an aro and RD be stocked together in a 55 gallon. Their aggression and size compatibility doesn't match for a 55 gallon. That is 2 strikes against you.

@pyramid party, who pee'd in your cornflakes, i mean look if he has a 200, doesnt have a 200 bottom line its his fish

inexperienced people need to be educated, when i first started posting on here i found it all very overwhelming because there was someone else talking smack about this or that, whats the purpose of you attacking this guy, even if all he owns is a 55 gallon its a start , jesus give him some slack, obvioslly he hasnt a clue about how nasty a red devil can be so instead of crapping all over him give him some genuine advice
like#1 a red devil or any larger body cichlid needs a bigger tank than a 55 gallon,
#2 they dont play well with others, with certain exceptions
#3 there are many options for stocking a 55 gallon <if thats all he has > with sweet fish, there are loads of cool south american and central american cichlids or hybrids that can be effectively housed in a 55.

Look lasersailor dont let this guys hostility put you off on posting here just do you , if you have questions ask, this guy is an exception to the rule on mfk clearly he is trying to pick a fight , who knows maybe his wife is getting plowed by the milkman and hes bitter.

there are plenty of "experts" if you will on here that can answer the simplest questions and not make you feel like an idiot for asking.
so ask away, and I and some others will assist you in "learning" whatever you may need to know to keep your fish, gear, running properly with as little disfunction as possible.

Love to see some pics of your Devil and tanks...

The point of mfk is to meet ppl and to learn more About fish form driff ppl why is it there is all ways someone on here the has to talk down to ppl if everyone know everything then we wouldn't need mfk.. So stop being a ass hole and let the man ask his ??? U don't like it don't read it..

Pyramid_Party is not talking down to anyone it is just such a basic question that it seems ridiculous. Assuming he has done some very basic research on red devils he would know by a simple google search that red devils can attain 12-14" and need a 75 gallon mimnum tank. They are also known for being highly aggressive(hence the name) and unless kept in a 6ft + tank should not be joined with tank mates. Also assuming that he has done basic research on arowanas he would know that most species are in the 2.5-3ft range and need massive tanks much larger than a 55. So after learning this info it does not take much mental capacity to conclude that these fish are not suitable together or apart in this size tank.

I apologize to the OP if my comment made me seem like an ass, I am not trying to be. To answer your question, no these fish are not compatible in this size tank. Although next time you post a question like this it is a good idea to include as much as possible such as plans to upgrade, size the fish are now, long term plans, etc, etc, gives us a little more to work with and doesn't make you look ridiculous.

comments like you dont have a 200, and strike 2 imply he is being a jerk, if you dont get the rudeness of his posts then your as lost as him.

maybe re read his garbage
