Red Devil Woes... some general questions

Put a purple cichlid in with him (thats the only name I've seen for them, obviously abit broad though) and he has started to attack his fins.

Since then my Red Devil/Midas has started to get black on his fins, and lips. I wonder if he is doing so because the tank is no longer his own?

I've had my RD for about a year and he looked just like yours when he was that size. its not uncommon for them to change colors or grow spots as they grow. I think they are some type of RD hybrid, mine was listed as a "bright red RD". as he gets older his personality will come out and he should lose some of his shyness, but he may not get mean mine loves being petted.
