My red devil is always hiding he is about 5" and is in a tank by himself a 40 breeder, he alwasy hide and is never out. Does your red devils do the same?

Some fish are just timid. Try dithers, there are lots of different fish that are good for that, I like tiger barbs.
thats one weird RD mine even though he was 1" he would fight off a 7" jack and the RD always got the food he grew to like 10" while all the other fish were at 3"!
see its strange, maybe i should pick up some tiger barbs just to see what happens, thing is when i feed him roses boom there dead. idk i just hope he go crazy like ur guyses
My 7 inch FEMALE expects the person to hide from her. I put her in a 175 gl. tank with an 11 inch male and i had to take her out cuz she almost killed him She's the most aggressive fish i've ever seen, male or female. shes never had a tankmate (without a divider) for more then a day.
how long has it been in the tank? just give it time to become comfortable. or go buy a convict and throw it in there that might give it a confidence boost.
