How do you people Know its NOT a hybrid!!!
Bunch of sheep! This fish has been talked about like its some un explained world wonder!
With only a foggy crappy picture to use as reference. Some guy posts a video and dosnt say crap about where he got it or who he got it from, likes its just another red dovii!!
So untill this fish is explained, its a hybrid!

So just because its not explained its a hybrid? That doesn't make sense either.

Generally speaking, if you don't have proof of origin of a fish like this it is best to assume hybrid. It could even be a hybrid from nature.

Unless you are sure of it's lineage, or do a dna study on it, you really won't know either way.

We all could argue about this fish for years and never know the real answer.

I knoew that is you ppl's rule through the hobby and all but No.
You don't have to be a smart ahhz and assume anything. U can if you want to but it's no proof in any way.

You Just simply DOnT KNOW!!

Assuming BS is only one's opinion.. It is not a Rule or a proven fact.

Lets just put all the cichlids in the hobby in one gigantic lake, african included and any new looking fish we find we just call it " Frontosa" cause it has black and white stripes or if it kinda looks like a Midas but has blue fins then why not call it midas!

The fact that this long lost dovii legend is finally in an aquarium, if that was me who had one I would make a little more of a big deal about it and explain how or where I got it from, say the least!

Yeah if one has a purpose for doing so. Like if they wanna breed and sell fry as Pure breed. Or they wanna show it off and insist it is Pure breed they should proof something because it's an extraordinary cichlid ppl don't know about.

But if we can assume it's hybrid because we Don't knoW, then we surely can assume it is pure too...
So they are both equal assumptions.

The fact is we don't KnoW

I see your point, yes no one knows what it is for sure. I would love it to be from the wild!
After watching a third video of this fish there is another fish that looks like a snook and similar to the dovii? Maybe dovii snook
Cross?
