TrikkyMakk I just checked my texas this morning and the growth on the nose is almost gone, the ones on the fins are still there but smaller. Will post pics later. You could try the Jungle Labs Paracite clear. I would quarantine your texas though. I lost a bushy nose pleco and one tetra with the medicine in the past 5 days

Unfortunately I don't have a quarantine tank so I might have to just take my chances. Thanks for the info tho.

Bumps on the nose went away but now my tex is getting one on the middle of his head, and still has the one on the fin. And now both my tanks have Columnaris. Been keeping fish for 3 years and all I have ever had was ich. Losing fish slowly, these things suck big time. Think I bought some bad fish when I stocked my new tank last month. Been treating the tex with salt, parasite clear, and maracyn. Guess I'll keep it up for the next week and see how it goes.

Mdi, one thing you have to note, is when ich occurs, they also injure the fish's skin. In doing this, they expose your fish to higher incidence of two common bacterial infections, columnaris and Aeromonas hydrophila. The latter particularly is much more dangerous and very tricky to treat. Your best options for gram-negative bacteria are a combination of Maracyn and Maracyn 2, tetracycline (if pH is no more than 7.6), kanamycin, triple sulfa or tricide neo (discovered to have very little problems with antibiotic-resistant bacteria).

Thanks Lupin for the advice, What combo should I try first with the Texas cichlid and what is the common name for the bacterial infection he has. I have him in a 10 gallon with salt and jungle labs paracite clear and treating with marcyn. So far it has only made the two lumps on his nose completely go away, but there is the new one I noted above. Also what combo is good for columnaris. I am currently treating with pimafix. I lost one big millenium rainbow fish (he is and was the only with the white belt on his back in that tank) and my new tank I had one rummy nose tetra with the belt but it has went away with the pimafix. Although I did lose all 4 of my beckford pencil fish as soon as I added the pimafix. The bottle says it is delicate to most fish but I googled it after and everyone has lost their pencilfish after using it. I am going to try the pimafix for a week and see if I still lose any more fish. If any one has any more advice on further care please reply. thanks

I did a 60% water change yesterday (which ended up killing 2 silver dollars and 3 danios). Still no sign of the growths on any fish but the texan. They seem to have calmed down a bit though and might be regressing.

I still have my texan in a 10 gallon quarantine tank. Been trying pimafix and salt now. All the bumps went away except the ones on his top fin. Doing 50 water change every day. Guess I'll keep him in there tell they are gone. The ones on his head went away completely after about three days. Ones on the fins have not done anything. There still a dark red with no white color

I have left mine in my main tank because I don't have a quarantine tank. His stuff hav gone down but not away although the pop eye seems to be easing up now. I did a 60% water change last weekend which may have helped. No sign of this on any of my other fish. And my Texan acts like nothing is wrong, eating like the pig that he is.
