hey guys im just wondering what other fish i can mix with my red pacu's any suggestions? im planning to get a 50gal tank for them by next week. since my pacu's are all grown now in the 15gal hehe anyway any tankmates that can blend in with my pacu's? thanks for all who's going to reply :)

You might be able to put 1 RBP in with it. I don't know too much about these fish. But you would want to get a bigger tank if you want something really monster.

cant afford to buy a much bigger tank yet.. :(

If you can't buy a bigger tank then the choice of tankmates should be lemon, rice, coriander and chilli.

You realize how big pacus get right?

cant u read properly or are u just plain dumb? i said i was going to buy a 50g for them i wont put tankmates on the 15g! :swear:

now now peoples....drink your chilled water, and take some breathing exercises :lol2:

Pacus get to about 12-18 inches in about 6 months. and twice that size in about a year. right now your pacus are probably the size of small saucer plates? that's why they look so cute and cuddly, ergo the reason for a vehemoth size tank.

But as for tankmates, when i used to keep pacus circa 1978, in a 60 gallon, i had a silver arowana, two oscars, tiger shovelnose, all juvenile size, i.e., 4-6 inches. You can just imagine when they got huge 6 months later...tank was always messy, plants wont stay planted.

I have them in with motoro rays right now in a 400 gallon holding. I also have a group of blacks that I kept with my arapaima in a 750. Soon they will be mixed with arapaima, silver arowana, redtail catfish, tiger shovelnose and a few others in a rather large tank.

You have four pacu at 5"-6", I'd say that 50 gallon will be a little small, no room for tank mates. Soon, you'll need to upgrade again.
